Product Junky Confession – Jenny

02/13/2013 | By | More

Jenny is a married 36 year old mother of two daughters, and a confessed lover of natural hair and all things product. Here is her product junky story.

product junky confession of JennyI have been natural for two years. I did the big chop on December 3, 2010 and there was NOOOO turning back.

Actually me going natural was a spur of the moment thing, I was at work talking with a co-worker and she was like “I’m going to go natural I’m tired of all the relaxers,” and I turned to her and said “You know what!? I’ll do it with you!” and that was the start of my natural journey.

I am a total product junky! Any store that I’m in, I go and check the hair products aisle even if I’m in the store just to get toothpaste!

I wasn’t a product junky when I was relaxed, because I was at the salon every 2 weeks getting my hair maintained. But now that I’m salon freeeeeee I love to experiment with any and everything.

The most I have spent in a month on products was $60.00 and that was on ONE product. But I’m not going to name names though LOL!! But I’m sure we can guess what that was and oh I want a REFUND!

For me walking in the local beauty supply store and seeing rows and rows of all kinds of hair goodies is like a payday.  I can jJenny Stashust stroll the aisles reading the labels, smelling the products, looking at all the pretty packaging! Wooo child, I’m in heaven!

As far as anyone in the fam having an issue with my PJ-ism, it’s my daughter. She’s like “No Mom! No products!” when we enter a store, and tries to pull me away in the other direction. It’s too funny!

I don’t think I need a 12 step product junky program quite yet, because I have found some goodies that work for me so I’m trying to be good.

  1. I have become a huge product junkie as well, maybe not as bad as you. But my partner has banned me from entering any Targets, Walmarts, or Beauty Supply store or even order from any hair websites. I have found some stuff that are great for my hair and even made my own and that has saved me money. But I know what you mean girl…lol.

  2. I have become a product junkie too but I know what I like, what works for me, and what not to buy again.

  3. I am indeed a product junkie; specifically addicted to the monthly hair subscriptions. The stores don’t excite me at all, but every time a new hair sub comes along….. That’s it! Chargeeeeeee it! The good thing is that I’m starting to calm down and get a grip. I’m considering cancellling subs; as I’m becoming overwhlemed with product. I do share what I can’t use, that feels good. But I can’t resist trying at least (1) box from a new subscrptiong company and alot keep popping up. The good thing now is that I’m not interested in subscribing to any more. I like the ones that you don’t have to sub, you can buy when you want and don’t have to commit. I just can’t resist trying new natural products. I like to support up and coming companies; small businesses.
